We are seeking volunteers to join our team and support our mission to make a positive impact in the lives of cancer patients and their families. By joining our volunteer program, you will have the chance to contribute to the well-being and comfort of cancer patients, their families, and caregivers, while playing a vital role in supporting our mission.
Current Volunteer Opportunities:
Community Cancer Hub – Front Desk Concierge
- Greet and assist visitors at the Community Cancer Hub’s front desk.
- Provide a welcoming and supportive atmosphere to patients, families, and guests.
- Answer phone calls, direct inquiries, and offer information about available resources.
- Assist with administrative tasks and maintain a neat and organized front desk area.
- Requires an ongoing commitment of minimum 4 months.
- In-person position – Mondays from 11:30-3:30 and Tuesdays, Wednesdays, Thursdays, Saturdays from 8:45am – 12:15pm
Community Cancer Hub – Meal Prep Assistant
- Collaborate with the kitchen team to prepare nutritious meals for those affected by cancer and their loved ones.
- Follow food safety and hygiene guidelines during meal preparation.
- Help in meal planning, chopping, cooking, and serving.
- Ensure a clean and organized kitchen environment.
- Requires an ongoing commitment of minimum 4 months.
- In-person position – Tuesday from 4:00-8:00pm and/or Wednesdays from 10:00-2:00pm
Community Cancer Hub – Volunteer Coordinator (4-8hr per week as needed) *Position Filled – Opening to become available TBD*
- Recruit, train, and schedule volunteers for various roles within the Community Cancer Hub.
- Act as a liaison between volunteers and staff, ensuring effective communication.
- Organize volunteer meetings, orientations, and recognition events.
- Track volunteer hours and maintain a database of volunteer information.
- Requires an ongoing commitment of minimum 6 months.
- Hybrid position – In-person and from home – Weekdays – Morning, Afternoon, Evenings.
Community Cancer Hub – Volunteer Peer-Led Facilitator
Do you have a special skill or hobby that you would like to share with us?
- Facilitate peer-led support sessions for individuals affected by cancer.
- Provide a safe and supportive environment for sharing experiences and resources.
- Assist in planning and organizing group activities and sessions.
- Maintain confidentiality and uphold ethical standards in all interactions.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
- Ability to facilitate discussions and manage group dynamics.
- Availability for regular sessions (frequency to be determined).
- Examples include: knitting group, crafting group, tea and coffee drop-in, walking group, book club, writing group, reiki, sound healing, meditation, and etc.
Fundraising – Special Events
- Participate in execution of special fundraising events for our charitable organization.
- Collaborate with the event planning team to coordinate logistics, set up, and tear down.
- Assist with guest registration, ticketing, and ensuring a smooth event experience.
- Participate in events such as Fight for the Cure, Laugh for the Cure, Breakfast of Champions, Lemonade Standemonium, Galas, Marathons, Walks, etc.
