The 5th Lemonade Standemonium is RIGHT around the corner! This is a day full of yellow – and sometimes pink (for all the pink lemonade lovers) across Ottawa. Kids from all over town wear their yellow t-shirt and sell lemonade to fundraise for cancer.
In light of this event and the hot weather coming soon, here is a kid-friendly lemon-strawberry popsicle recipe that is SUPER easy to make. You can make these in addition or as an alternative to lemonade if you are participating.
If you’re a sour lover, you can add more lemon, and if you got a sweet-tooth, more sweetener ☺ you can taste the mix before freezing to make any last adjustments.
I recommend using Popsicle molders, however you can always use any cup or glass that can freeze with Popsicle sticks. If you are going this route, you can stick the Popsicle stick after freezing the popsicles for around 30 minutes so it holds more.
Yield: 6 popsicles
Ingredients:
- 2lbs strawberries
- 4-6 lemons, juiced
- 1/8 cup sugar, maple sugar, agave, or honey
Directions:
Simply blend all the ingredients, place the mix in molds and freeze until hard – usually 4-6 hours. When taking the popsicles out, let them sit for a few minutes and run the molds under warm water if needed to easily remove them.
