This holiday season, the Cancer Foundation was fortunate to have Giant Tiger by our side to help give hope and spread holiday cheer!

As you may have heard, Giant Tiger offered a generous $45,000 gift in support of Cancer Coaching as a Giving Tuesday match, to help inspire and empower donors in our community to make twice their impact on the lives of local families facing cancer. They even invited us into their newest store at 1021 St. Laruent Blvd. for the gift announcement and shared their own motivations for supporting local cancer care with us.

Then, on Giving Tuesday, some of Giant Tiger’s staff arrived at the Maplesoft Centre with over 5 carts of holiday decorations to help us undergo a holiday transformation. They brought along Christmas cookies, artwork, fuzzy throw blankets, real pine wreaths, and so much more to help our space become even more cozy and welcoming. If you haven’t yet, please drop by during the holiday season to see their wonderful work!

And, thanks to Giant Tiger and to the incredible donors in our community, we were able to raise more funds for local cancer care than any Giving Tuesday before. Through online and direct mail donations, we PASSED our matching goal and raised more than $53,300, meaning we’ll be able to make almost 100 thousand dollars worth of change happen in our community!

“Giant Tiger is proud to make a difference in Canadian communities,” said Thomas Haig, President and COO of Giant Tiger Stores Limited. “The Ottawa Regional Cancer Foundation’s Cancer Coaching Program is accessible to all community members and provides a people first approach that helps families in our community navigate their cancer diagnosis and treatment. We are proud to be a partner and help even more community members access this vital service.”

And we are proud too, to be able to work with organizations like Giant Tiger to make a bigger impact on local cancer care. Thank you Giant Tiger for giving hope for the holidays!
