FFTC 2023: The Gloves Didn’t Come Off on Saturday Night!

This past Saturday night, Ottawa’s sold-out Fight for the Cure charity boxing gala presented by the Heart & Crown, proved to be a spectacular success, raising over $1 million for The Ottawa Cancer Foundation. The event, created by brothers Scott and Matt Whitteker, is unique in its kind in the city, combining elegance and excitement with a gourmet dinner, white-collar feature bouts, and amateur Olympic-style matches.

What makes this particular boxing event truly remarkable is the dedication of participants, many of whom have never boxed before. They undergo seven to eight months of rigorous training, showcasing their commitment to both the cause and the spirit of the event. All proceeds from Fight for the Cure support The Ottawa Cancer Foundation, a vital pillar in supportive cancer care and research in the region.

This event is a symbol of the Ottawa community’s unity and compassion, with local businesses and individuals coming together to make a difference. Over the years, Fight for the Cure has left a lasting impact, growing in both funds raised and lives touched. It serves as a reminder that when we join forces for a common cause, remarkable things happen.
