PoundFit with Denise Warren
Owner of Perfectly Fit, Denise Warren helps women of all levels progress their health, wellness & fitness goals by offering her programs PoundFit, Bootcamps and StrollerFit, all in a supportive, welcoming environment. At Crush It for Cancer she’ll be leading our participants in PoundFit, a cardio jam session inspired by the infectious, energizing and sweat-dripping fun of playing the drums, using lightly weighted drumsticks. Pound transforms drumming into an incredibly effective way of working out and provides the perfect atmosphere for letting loose, getting energized, and rocking out!
JindaFit with Gretha Jean-Gilles and Amanda Appleby
Jindafit is a high intensity cardio class that incorporates African dance moves. It is for all fitness levels, but allows you to get a great sweat in! Session leaders Amanda Appleby and Gretha Jean-Gilles are two of just four certified Jindafit Kochas (instructors) in Canada, so you’ll be in for a very special treat. Gretha fell in love with Jindafit while working abroad and Amanda first discovered it last year, and they are now bringing the fun to Ottawa!
Meditation with Jennifer Innes
Jennifer Innes, MSc is a meditation and mindfulness-based stress reduction (MBSR) teacher trained by the University of Massachusetts Medical School and the University of California San Diego. She teaches Mindful Self-Compassion (MSC) and is also a certified Sivananda yoga teacher. In Jennifer’s meditation sessions, you can expect a wonderful, relaxing and empowering experience that will help you recharge and feel refreshed! Jennifer will also be bringing her expertise in mindfulness and wellness to our featured expert panel during lunchtime, along with Tony Greco and Kathy Smart.
Yoga du Rire with Linda Leclerc
Get ready for a refreshing and innovative approach to stress management, team building, creativity, physical, mental and emotional wellbeing! You do not need to have a reason, a sense of humour, or be happy to laugh. Experience the healing and stress-busting power of free-flow laughter with Linda Leclerc, Pioneer of the Laughter Yoga movement in Canada. Linda motivates, inspires, and educates in a positive and memorable way, and you’ll be in for a joyful ride with her at Crush It for Cancer!
Yoga For Everyone with Dawn-Marie Bourgeois
Dawn-Marie has been teaching yoga for 10 years as a certified Hatha Yoga instructor, and has additional training in Yin Yoga, Yapana Restorative Yoga, and Yoga Tune Up. And when she says “Yoga for Everyone”, she’s not kidding: her goal is to make her classes fun and accessible to all! With Dawn, you’ll experience a lighthearted and harmonizing yoga class for people of all ages and levels of experience, with lots of modifications available to enhance your own unique experience. Your team will walk away from her class feeling a little lighter in your steps and brighter in your hearts!
Isometric Body Weight Circuit with Tony Greco
Get ready to move with Tony Greco, co-founder of Greco Fitness, as he leads your team through an isometric body weight circuit! One of the biggest benefits of isometric activity is that technically no movements are being done, but the muscles are still contracting. It’s a great approach for anyone looking for a lower-impact workout, and isometric exercises help to improve strength and may even help lower your blood pressure. As a special treat, Tony will also be bringing his fitness expertise to our lunchtime discussion panel.
Panel Discussion with Kathy Smart, Tony Greco, and Jennifer Innes
With over 20 years experience in the health and wellness sector, Kathy Smart has helped thousands be their healthiest and happiest self! She is a registered holistic nutritionist who wrote the best-selling cookbook Live the Smart Way, and she’s also a Huffington Post writer, Canada’s 2015 Fitness Presenter of the Year, and is best known as North America’s gluten-free expert. She is a popular speaker, health and fitness presenter, and go-to media expert in all things nutrition and well-being. She’ll be joined on the panel by Tony Greco and Jennifer Innes to offer a well-rounded discussion about health and wellness.
