Our Story
We’ve come a long way.
From research and advocacy to frontline, supportive cancer care, our story
in the Ottawa cancer community is decades in the making.
Here at every step of your unique cancer journey
The cancer conversation has transformed dramatically since our founding in 1995. With limited knowledge and tools available, cancer was a topic that elicited fear and confusion, a diagnosis people struggled to accept and understand. We’ve come a long way since then.
Hope and connection through challenging times
Thanks to advancements of research and care, and the generous support of people like you, cancer doesn’t have to be the end of the conversation, or of your life’s story. It can be the beginning of a different journey, new learning, community and life experiences.
What was once a taboo subject is now approached as a chronic illness that can be managed, and in some cases, prevented.
This is supportive cancer care
In response to community needs and feedback, we’ve evolved from primarily funding research to offering a comprehensive range of evidence-based programs for those affected by cancer, including their caregivers and families. We are committed to valuing lived experiences and addressing the unique needs of our community.
Meeting individual needs
By creating personalized support pathways, we meet individuals where they are and adapt to their evolving needs. Our approach ensures that people feel seen and supported, helping them find hope and connection through life’s most challenging moments.
