The days are getting shorter, the weather colder, and we’re just a few days away from Giving Tuesday!
Giving Tuesday is an international day of giving meant to inspire communities to give back. Each year on Giving Tuesday thousands of people volunteer their time, donate their money, raise funds, take part in events, and support social enterprises in order to help make the world a better place.
And this time, for the second year in a row, Giant Tiger will be matching all Giving Tuesday donations to the Ottawa Regional Cancer Foundation up to $45,000! This means your support will go TWICE as far in helping local families get the care they need close to home.
Here’s how you can get involved:
MAKE A DONATION
One of the BIGGEST ways you can make an impact on Giving Tuesday is by making a donation. You’ll be supporting local research, clinical trials, and Cancer Coaching to help families in Ottawa at any stage of their experience with cancer. Visit www.hopefortuesday.ca to read this year’s Giving Tuesday story and learn what gives Dr. Rebecca Auer, a leading surgeon and cancer researcher, hope for the future of cancer care.
HOST A FUNDRAISER
You can sign up to host your own fundraising event to raise money for local cancer care, or you can raise funds in recognition of Giving Tuesday directly through Facebook! Check out our step-by-step guide here for more information.
POST ON SOCIAL MEDIA
Since Giving Tuesday comes after Cyber Monday, much of the support the day generates happens online. Post on social media about why local cancer care matters to you, and tag us at @OttawaCancer. Use the hashtags #GivingTuesday and #GivingTuesdayCA to help your posts get a bit more traction!
ATTEND AN EVENT
