Good news for our French-speaking community: Coping with Cancer, our most popular group coaching program for cancer survivors, is now offered in French.

The first session will begin May 4th and will run every Thursday until June 15th.

Led by Cancer Coach Nasser Yassine, the series of seven group sessions aims to give cancer survivors the information, support and practical skills required to cope with their disease.

“Even though a lot of Francophones in our region also speak English”, explains Nasser, “when it comes time to talk about our emotions and topics that can be difficult, we’re often more comfortable to speak in our mother tongue. That’s why we want to offer this program in French.”

Whether newly diagnosed, in treatment, or post-treatment, clients explore as a group topics ranging from exercise to mediation, nutrition, stress management, body image, changes in relationships, and fears of recurrence or dying.

Even if no one wants to receive a cancer diagnosis, it can also serve as a catalyst for growth.

Moreover, sharing this kind of burden in a group setting can sometimes make it easier to manage.

It’s an opportunity to get together with a group of people facing similar challenges. Sharing with others, telling them your story, and listening to theirs can sometimes contribute to make cancer less scary, as well as give you the feeling of getting back some degree of control on your life.
