About The Ottawa Cancer Foundation
Our Mission
We are dedicated to supporting people living with cancer, their caregivers and their families by providing the most effective community-based cancer care, resources, and programs.
Our Story
The cancer conversation has transformed dramatically since our founding in 1995. With limited knowledge and tools available, people struggled to accept and understand their cancer diagnoses. We’ve come a long way since then.
Our Approach
Supportive Care
We address the full spectrum of client needs—physical, psychological, emotional, social, and practical—ensuring that no aspect of their well-being is overlooked.
Community Partnership
Our programs are developed in collaboration with our clients as well as 70+ service providers, healthcare professionals, and community organizations.
Evidence-Based
Our spaces, programs and providers stay informed and grounded in the latest clinical research and evidence, enhancing outcomes and quality of care.
Accessible and Intentional
Our physical and digital spaces are thoughtfully designed to make daily life easier and more manageable, with features that address both immediate and long-term needs.
Funded by Community, Free to Clients
Community-driven efforts enable us to offer vital resources and support at no cost. Generous donors, events and sponsors fuel our mission.
Our Teams
The Ottawa Cancer Foundation team consists of hundreds of people in our community – from our staff to our Board of Directors, volunteers, donors, partners, and clients.
We’re a group that’s committed to increasing cancer survivorship in Eastern Ontario by providing local residents with increased access to person-centered care through the delivery of patient support, innovative cancer research.
Our Space
Our staff, Cancer System Navigators, and a range of supportive programs operate out of the Maplesoft Jones Centre at 1500 Alta Vista Dr.. As the region’s first Cancer Survivorship Centre, this space was thoughtfully designed by the Ottawa Cancer Foundation to serve as a serene refuge for patients and their families. It provides a calming environment for reflection, support, and empowerment throughout the cancer journey.
With its warm and welcoming interior, the Centre offers a relaxing atmosphere for all visitors, staff, and providers, ensuring a comforting experience for everyone who walks through its doors.
A message from our CEO
“Driving change in our city may be challenging, but it’s a meaningful journey. As the stewards of our society, we deeply understand the unique needs of our fellow Ottawa residents.”
