Our Story

The Ottawa Cancer Foundation
Cancer is our focus. you are our priority.

Two decades ago, cancer was a very tough subject to talk about. In fact, most people were afraid to discuss it, and had a hard time coming to terms with the realities of the disease. Today, we look at cancer in a whole new way. More and more people are surviving the disease and living longer. It no longer means the end, but the beginning of a different journey and one that is centred on each person.

In 2015 The Ottawa Cancer Foundation celebrated its 20th anniversary. Over the last two decades, we have seen the cancer conversation shift. Today, researchers are talking about cancer as more of a chronic illness, in some cases one that can be prevented, treated and controlled. Cancer is no longer something we shy away from discussing – it’s front and centre – and we are attacking it on all fronts.

The Ottawa Cancer Foundation is incredibly proud of what we have accomplished in our community, thanks to the generosity of our donors. We have listened to the needs of cancer patients and their families, along with oncologists and researchers – and have worked tirelessly to ensure local families have access to the very best care, right here at home. We have remained steadfast in our resolve to ensure cancer care and research continue to be a top priority year-round in our community.

Thanks to the generosity of our community, The Ottawa Cancer Foundation has been able to help every person who is diagnosed with cancer in our community.
