The family of the late Ed Sonnenburg, Carleton Place’s former deputy mayor, is doing exactly this on Saturday, June 6, participating in a fundraiser to help families who are impacted by cancer.
“It’s been almost 10 months since Ed passed,” Evelyn Sonnenburg told the Canadian Gazette in an interview last Wednesday, May 27.
Ed, who served close to two terms as deputy mayor, from 2006-2010 and 2010-2014, lost his battle with pancreatic cancer last August. He was 66.
When asked how she’s doing, Evelyn replied, “I am doing well, I am keeping busy.”
Saturday’s fundraiser, called the Cardel Homes Great Canadian Lemonade Standemonium and presented by Palladium Insurance, is part of a campaign for the Ottawa Regional Cancer Foundation. Now in its third year, it’s a fun-filled, one-day appeal where kids host stands in their neighbourhood.
