Diary of the Week: Nordstrom’s grand opening (Article)

Jenn Campbell and Nicole Harvie, Hello! Canada: Ottawa’s style mafia was out in full force this week as Nordstrom threw a boisterous opening-night party. Store aisles were packed with party-goers dressed to the nines and taking it all in, from fashionable models acting as mannequins to a live band on one floor and DJs spinning on the next. The sites and sounds were fuelled by fabulous food and drink sourced coast to coast – from Nova Scotia lobster rolls and Alberta beef poutine to small cans of Blancs de Blancs champagne and chocolate truffles. A who’s who of Ottawans paid $100 a ticket for the event, with $180,000 in proceeds benefitting the Ottawa Regional Cancer Foundation and the United Way. A pair of fourth-generation Nordstrom brothers and one of their cousins celebrated the famous retailer’s second store in Canada. (The first opened in Calgary last year.)
