New Loft Gala comes to Ottawa in style (Article)

Caroline Phillips, Ottawa Citizen: The sold-out Loft Gala felt like a giant free-range fashion show, so gorgeous was the crowd that gathered at the Hilton Lac Leamy on Saturday to help raise funds for the Ottawa Regional Cancer Foundation and its Maplesoft Centre, a local facility that offers programs and services for cancer survivors and their families.

It was a unique evening filled with gowns, glamour and glorious pipes belonging to singers Wallis Giunta, Julie Nesrallah and Jully Black, all of whom got star billing at the inaugural event created by Bruno Racine, owner of The Loft Urban Salon and the driving force behind the former Ottawa Fashion Week.

Racine received an enthusiastic standing ovation from a ballroom of 600-plus guests as he took to the podium to welcome the crowd to dinner. “I am overwhelmed standing here tonight in front of you,” he told the room. “Your support means so much to me and our team.”
